Manos and a nephews hat

I love the way my nephew's hat turned out. I used the Manos wool and a hat pattern out of Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I am such a loose knitter I ended up working on U.S. size 8 needles. I also ended up following the directions for the childs size so that it would not be too big. It fits live a glove(yet I see it can be bigger if need be) and is not the least bit scratchy. Here is a picture as promised :

Modern Quilt Wrap, Rowan kidsilk haze & addiction
I decided that I wanted to get a jump on our Modern Quilt Wrap Thursday night knit along....I thought it would be helpful to have some tips to give as people embarked on their projects as well. Yesterday I started the first square and was muttering quite a bit under my breath....it had been awhile since I worked with the Rowan Kidsilk Haze. Mohair in general is not my favorite yarn to work with. I wanted to make sure that I had the mechanics of the weaving "ends in as you knit" part down and found that the little squares of kidsilk haze were not as friendly as I wanted them to be.....I stopped bellyaching and just decided to make it work. The important thing to remember is that this is just not a project to be rushed. If you just slow down, settle in and enjoy the airiness of the yarn, you realize you will have a beautiful piece of warm air when you are done. I have become completely addicted to the color transitions. I changed two of the colors used in the pattern because they did not appeal to me at all. As you are working on the different blocks and changing colors, what you did before takes on a whole new look...thus the continual need to keep going on.....I want to get back to working on it now so I am wishing you a wonderful day!
